The large dome type cap is an effective part of the design as it facilitates the benefits of the filter element. All acidic fumes that pass through the filter are condensed on the domes inner surface and fall back into the battery. Because the inflammable acid fumes are prevented from escaping it ensure there are no unwanted fire hazards due to an external spark. Another benefit of this design is that it prevents loss of electrolyte fluids and hence saves the need for frequent Battery watering.
